From Selfie to Self-Expressionism

Saatchi Gallery
Until July 23
The world’s first exhibition exploring the history of the selfie is to open at the Saatchi Gallery. ‘From Selfie to Self-Expressionism’ will examine the history of the selfie from the old masters to present day icons of the digital era.

Influential artists including Tracy Emin, Cindy Sherman, Gavin Turk and Van Gogh will be shown alongside submissions from selfie enthusiasts - exhibited as part of competition #SaatchiSelfie.

Shifting away from the selfie, the gallery has also commissioned ten photographers to highlight the role of the smartphone as an artistic medium. Works created by these exciting young photographers will be displayed elsewhere in the gallery.
