Designology: London Transport Museum

London Transport Museum
Until April 23
Advances in technology and design methods have greatly changed the travel experiences of Londoners over the last few decades. Exhibition 'Designology' at The London Transport Museum takes a detailed look at the fascinating industrial and creative processes behind improving London’s moving metropolis.
Passers by looking at enamel map
Visitors will be taken back to an age before smart phones and tablets existed; when journey planning usually required comprehensive study of a paper map or detailed discussion with London transport staff.

Items on display will reveal how clever design is encountered on our everyday journeys but masked by the familiarity of day to day life; it will also explore how our travel experiences will develop in the future.

One exciting feature is the Designology pop-up studio where visitors can meet professionals involved in design – from textile designers creating fabric patterns for London Underground tube seats to architects working on platform designs for Crossrail.

A series of interesting Friday Lates are also on offer, check the London Transport Museum website for details.
