Dreamers Awake

The enduring influence of Surrealism is to be explored by a new exhibition at White Cube, Bermondsey. “Dreamers Awake” will present works by more than fifty women, dating as far back as the 1930s, up until the present day. The exhibition will highlight the powerful presence that women have held both as subjects and artists of Surrealism.

Works by artists associated with the Surrealist movement such as Eileen Agar, Dorothea Tanning and Lee Miller will be exhibited alongside exhibits by contemporary artists such as Mona Hatoum, Tracey Emin and Sarah Lucas.

Exhibits by emerging artists such as Jordan Kasey, Loie Hollowell, Kelly Akashi and Sascha Braunig will further cement the relevance of surrealist ideas through a range of artistic practices. These will include sculpture, paintings, collage, photography and drawings.
