Gregory Crewdson: Cathedral of Pines
Gregory Crewdson: The Shed, 2013 © Gregory Crewdson,Courtesy Gagosian Gallery The exhibition takes its name from a series of thirty-one large-scale digital prints: figures pose in areas and dwellings around the town of Beckett, Massachusetts, surrounded by forests.
The results are visually stunning, powerful and haunting. Crewdson’s atmospheric and alluring scenes create a visual suspense akin to Hopper, Hitchcock or David Lynch - reminiscent of nineteenth-century American and European paintings.
